Beloved San-X character Rilakkuma is coming to your home in a huge way with the return of its giant plush! This massive piece of Rilakkuma merchandise sizes in at a massive 5′5″ tall, and has returned due to massive public demand after its initial wave sold out! This giant plush will be available only in limited quantities until September 4th from San-X’s official website, and is currently sold for just over $650, making these plushes a real investment for serious Rilakkuma fans. Fear not, though, for San-X also has smaller, 40″ tall plushes available as well for both Rilakkuma and his white-pelted partner Korillakuma. On top of that, a new monkey-themed Rilakkuma plush is also available for $180, in order to celebrate 2016’s Year of the Monkey! Just in time for the 2016 Olympics at Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, LEGO has donated a massive recreation of the city in its iconic building blocks to the city! The model consists of over 930,000 brick, and required 50 professional LEGO construction artists to work over a year to complete it in time. The model includes a wide variety of iconic landmarks from the city, cramming it all into a 16ft x 20ft display. On top of that, LEGO also created unique miniature figures of Vinicius and Tom, the 2016 Olympic’s mascots! Nintendo releases Z-Ring toy with new Pokemon game

With the newest iteration of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon franchise coming this fall with Pokémon Sun and Moon, Nintendo has announced a new interactive toy will be released alongside the new game: The Z-Ring! The Z-Ring, which will be manufactured by TOMY, will be able to connect with your copy of Pokémon Sun and Moon, and will activate whenever you use one of the new Z-Moves in-game. In response to this, the ring will light up and vibrate, along with play sound effects to complement the action going on in your game! The Z-Ring can also be customized, allowing the user to swap colored gems to fit their Pokémon’s type. The Z-Ring is scheduled to release alongside Pokémon Sun and Moon on November 18th, and will surely add a level of immersion never before seen to your Pokémon experience!

At SEGA’s recent Project Sonic 2017, held to celebrate Sonic the Hedgehog’s 25th anniversary, Hello Kitty and friends made a surprise appearance in special Sonic costumes! Featured as a collaboration between SEGA, Sanrio, and toy company Toynami, the new collaboration was also featured at SDCC 2016, and include a series of 3-inch blind boxed figures and larger plushes of iconic Sanrio characters like Hello Kitty, Badtz-maru, My Melody, and Chococat! The set includes costumes of Sonic characters like Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and of course Sonic himself, both in his memorable blue colors as well as his golden Super Sonic form! While the Super Sonic Hello Kitty was an SDCC exclusive, all the other plushes and miniature collectibles will debut at retail this fall, so fans have plenty of time to get ready for this awesome collaboration release!

Media entertainment company LEVEL-5, known for their popular franchises like “Yokai Watch” and “Inazuma Eleven”, have revealed information on their latest project, known as “Megaton Musashi”! This new story will take place in a sci-fi future where humanity is on the verge of extinction thanks to the invasion of an alien race known as the Dorakuta, leaving the remainder of humanity with no recollection of the Dorakuta or their invasion. A small group of refugees whose minds were not altered to forget the Dorakuta are tasked to fight back against the alien race through the use of giant mecha known as Musashi, which have the ability to swap weapons and limbs with the use of special cards.

The franchise, which takes inspiration from early mecha anime like Mazinger Z and Getter Robo, will include a television anime, video game franchise, collectible card game and action figures, featuring the titular Musashi and their weapon change gimmick. There are even plans for a serialized Megaton Musashi manga in internationally renowned manga pulication Shonen Jump, created by Mazinger Z inventor Go Nagai! Megaton Musashi is expected to launch next summer, but for the time being, check out the animated trailer below, and keep an eye out for more news as the year goes on!

Pokedrone to work alongside Pokemon Go

Users of the recently released Pokémon Go app are trying to find every way they can to catch ‘em all, and tech company TRNDlabs are helping out with their newly announced Pokédrone! The Pokédrone will consist of a miniature remote-control quadcopter, and controller that will attach to the phones of Pokémon Go users. The phone will connect via WiFi to the Pokédrone, and use the drone’s on-board camera and GPS system to take to the skies to find Pokémon remotely! The drone will help users look for and find Pokémon that are in hard-to-reach places, such as over water, near cliffs, and other hazardous locations where it would be unsafe to be using the program. The drone will also feature an auto take-off & landing feature, allowing users to easily land and retrieve their Pokédrone after use! While no release date or price point has been stated, TRNDlabs has unveiled a first look trailer at the Pokédrone, which you can check out below!

Disney and LEGO have come together in a magical way to release a giant recreation of Disney World’s iconic Cinderella Castle in LEGO! The castle will prominently feature the front display of the castle in intricate detail, while turning the set around will reveal a number of playrooms for LEGO mini-figures to have fun in! These rooms will themselves be themed after a number of Disney’s most famous movies and animations, including Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Fantastia, and Brave among others. The giant set will also contain unique Disney-themed mini-figures, providing collectors with the chance to own Mickey Mouse, Minny Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and Tinker Bell! Standing at nearly 30″ high, the 4080-piece LEGO Disney Castle will go on sale on September 1st for $349.

As a continuation of last year’s Super Mario-themed Hot Wheels line, which featured box art from a number of Mario games on the tiny collectible vehicles, Mattel has announced a new wave of Super Mario Hot Wheels! This new line of vehicles will be themed around the characters of the Mario universe themselves, and will feature vehicular representations of Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Toad, and Bowser. These unique vehicles will be released in limited amounts later this summer, so Nintendo fans should make sure to keep an eye out for these cool little Nintendo cars!

Frederator Studios releases Hatsune Miku robot

Frederator Studios, most well-known for their work with the Adventure Time cartoon series, has worked with toy company Ultra Tokyo Connection to design a brand-new Hatsune Miku-themed robot toy for the upcoming Anime Expo 2016! This figure features the Vocaloid character herself in Frederator Studios’ iconic graphic art style, along with a large Miku-themed mecha for her to pilot and interact with. The robot itself is fully articulated, and features a number of accessories for itself and Miku, including microphone stand and leek-themed baton. The robot even opens up, allowing Miku to enter and pilot it in style! The toy will release at Anime Expo, which will run from July 1st to July 4th, and will also be released for preorder online from July 5th to July 25th. Make sure to pick up one of these cool Miku figures for yourself!
