Months of speculation and rumors surrounding Nintendo’s newest console, code-named the NX, will finally come to an end today, thanks to the official announcement of the Nintendo Switch! The console acts like a hybrid of Nintendo’s home console line and handheld series, allowing users to play the Switch both at home and on the go! This is accomplished thanks to a variety of innovative features, like a docking stand that the Switch plugs into at home to play on your TV, along with a separate slide-out tablet to play the console in a handheld format. The controller, titled the Joy-Con, is also widely modular, allowing the controller to be split apart from its at-home configuration and attached to the portable tablet to create a handheld screen. The console unveil also showed off a number of new games, including the upcoming Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Splatoon, on top of a brand new Mario title! Disney’s newest animated film, Moana, has finally received its full trailer! Mere weeks before the movie debuts in theaters across the world on November 23rd, fans can get a sneak peak at the action and characters in this newest release. Moana takes place in the ancient South Pacific, and follows the adventures of sea navigator Moana as she sets sail with the mysterious deity Maui in search of a legendary island. Fans have been looking forward to the movie since the original announcement in 2014, and are sure to enjoy this newest look at Disney’s upcoming film! Godzilla anime film announced

After the success of the recent “Godzilla: Resurgence” film, animation studio POLYGON PICTURES has announced that a brand-new Godzilla animated film is in the works for 2017! The announcement was released alongside a teaser image of the film, showing a futuristic vehicle on what appears to be Monster Island, long thought to be the home of Godzilla and other kaiju from throughout the series’ history. The announcement also revealed that Kobun Shizuno, known for his work on Detective Conan and Fist of the North Star, and Hiroyuki Seshita, who has worked on Ajin and Knights of Sidonia, will be directing the film, with story and screenplay written by Gen Urobuchi of Madoka Magica and Fate/Zero fame. More news on this anime adaptation of the classic monster will surely be released throughout the rest of the year, so stay tuned!

Media entertainment company LEVEL-5, known for their popular franchises like “Yokai Watch” and “Inazuma Eleven”, have revealed information on their latest project, known as “Megaton Musashi”! This new story will take place in a sci-fi future where humanity is on the verge of extinction thanks to the invasion of an alien race known as the Dorakuta, leaving the remainder of humanity with no recollection of the Dorakuta or their invasion. A small group of refugees whose minds were not altered to forget the Dorakuta are tasked to fight back against the alien race through the use of giant mecha known as Musashi, which have the ability to swap weapons and limbs with the use of special cards.

The franchise, which takes inspiration from early mecha anime like Mazinger Z and Getter Robo, will include a television anime, video game franchise, collectible card game and action figures, featuring the titular Musashi and their weapon change gimmick. There are even plans for a serialized Megaton Musashi manga in internationally renowned manga pulication Shonen Jump, created by Mazinger Z inventor Go Nagai! Megaton Musashi is expected to launch next summer, but for the time being, check out the animated trailer below, and keep an eye out for more news as the year goes on!

San Diego Comic-Con never fails to impress fans with its wide variety of announcements on the hottest and latest movies, comics, toys, games, and more, and this year’s iteration didn’t fail to impress! With dozens of big-name companies showing off their best and brighest products for the next year, there’s a lot to dig into over the next few months!



Some of the biggest names in the industry were excited to show off their TV and movie projects for the next year, and fans were ready to eat up every bit of it! Reveals ranged from DC’s reveal of the Justice League trailer, as well as trailers for Wonder Woman, Suicide Squad, and the upcoming superhero fighting game Injustice 2, to Warner Bros. unveiling the world’s first look at Kong: Skull Island on top of trailers for King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and the LEGO Batman Movie.



Not one to slouch, Marvel also unveiled a number of looks at their TV and movie schedule for the next year, with franchises like Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Doctor Strange, the Defenders, and Guardiands of the Galaxy strutting their stuff.



Other big releases included the announcement of Godzilla: Resurgence for international release sometime in 2016, along with an entire panel dedicated to the new Pokémon Go phone game phenomenon, which took a look at future features and add-ons that are slated to drop for the game in the near future. Popular franchises like The Walking Dead, Star Trek, Sherlock, and more were also at the event, with dozens of stands, booths, and talks to help hype visitors up for months to come.

Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV trailer released

Video game and entertainment company Square-Enix has had its hands full with the latest entry in the internationally renowned Final Fantasy franchise, Final Fantasy XV. Scheduled to release on September 30th, the new video game has a number of side projects that will tie directly into the game’s expansive universe, including several spinoff games. On top of this, Square-Enix has finally shown off the first trailer for a new movie in the XV universe, titled “Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV”! The movie, which will be rendered entirely in CG like their 2005 movie, “Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children”, the movie will follow King Regis Lucis Caelum CXIII, father of the XV video game’s protagonist, Noctis Lucis Caelum, as well as Nyx Ulric, a member of Regis’ Kingsglaive unit. The movie adaptation of the “Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers” franchise has slowly been unveiling details and designs about the upcoming film since the initial announcement in May 2014. Now, diehard Power Rangers fan finally have their first look at the Rangers’ iconic suits! Based on the designs used in the original Power Rangers television season, known as Zyuranger in Japan, the suits have been upgraded from spandex costumes into full-armor alien designs. The designs are aimed to cater to a more adult audience that grew up with the Rangers franchise since the original airing in 1993. Plot details reveal that the costumes will actually grow onto the rangers when it’s time to suit up on the big screen, while still retaining design elements and homages from the original costumes. With the Power Rangers movie scheduled to hit theaters on March 24th, 2017, you can look forward to more news as the year goes on!

The D23 Expo is a fan-run biannual convention that celebrates Disney cartoons old and new, and draws more than 20,000 fans and visitors during its three-day showing at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Here, fans are able to meet up with Disney stars, watch musicals, buy Disney merchandise, and get ready for the newest information from the multi-national animation and film company. This year’s summer D23, which was open from August 14th to August 16th, was bigger than ever, and showed off exciting teasers and trailers for some previously announced Disney films, as well as announcing some others for the very first time!

John Lasseter, Disney’s top animation executive, took the stage at the start of the event to announce some bombshell announcements to eager fans. First off, Lasseter announced a brand-new, never before seen movie called “Gigantic”, which will be a musical based off other classic “Jack and the Beanstalk” folk tale. “Gigantic” will have songs written by the same team behind “Frozen”’s iconic themes, and is currently scheduled to released in 2018. More information was also made available regarding the upcoming 2016 film “Moana”, which has been revealed to have musical segments as well. The film will follow a teenage Pacific Islander princess and her tattooed demigod companion.

Finally, posters were unveiled for a variety of upcoming projects, some of which were completely unknown before the expo. These include teaser posters for “Toy Story 4″, “The Incredibles 2″, and “Cars 3″, along with posters for “Finding Dory”, the sequel to fan favorite “Finding Nemo”, and “The Good Dinosaur”. Little information was unveiled about these new announcements, and all are labeled as “Coming Soon”, but Disney fans can expect to hear more about these blockbuster sequels in the coming months. Disney releases Zootopia teaser

Originally announced as a work-in-progress in 2013, Disney has finally given fans their first look at one of the animation studio’s upcoming films, Zootopia! The movie, which stars the unlikely duo of wise-cracking fox Nick Wilde and enthusiastic rookie rabbit cop Judy Hopps, is set in a world where anthropomorphic creatures live their day-to-day lives in a modern metropolis society. The movie is scheduled to release on March 4th, 2016, and will be Disney’s first movie of the year, followed by Finding Dory on June 17th and Moana on November 23rd.
