‘Frozen’ musical coming to Disney cruise

Disney has recently announced that a brand-new musical based on the popular “Frozen” franchise will make its debut exclusive on the Disney cruise liner, the Disney Wonder! The musical will feature eight songs in a Broadway-style presentation, and will feature all of fan’s favorite characters, including Elsa, Anna, Hans, and more. Cartoon characters Sven the reindeer and Olaf the snowman will even star in the musical as unique puppets! The show is scheduled to debut in November alongside other classic stage productions, so tourists can look forward to a chilling new experience on Disney Wonder this fall!

Recreate iconic Disney castle in LEGO

Disney and LEGO have come together in a magical way to release a giant recreation of Disney World’s iconic Cinderella Castle in LEGO! The castle will prominently feature the front display of the castle in intricate detail, while turning the set around will reveal a number of playrooms for LEGO mini-figures to have fun in! These rooms will themselves be themed after a number of Disney’s most famous movies and animations, including Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Fantastia, and Brave among others. The giant set will also contain unique Disney-themed mini-figures, providing collectors with the chance to own Mickey Mouse, Minny Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and Tinker Bell! Standing at nearly 30″ high, the 4080-piece LEGO Disney Castle will go on sale on September 1st for $349.

“Finding Dory” smashes box office records

Disney’s “Finding Dory”, the anticipated sequel to the 2003 animated film “Finding Nemo”, released in theaters across the nation on Friday, June 17th, and has since earned over $9.2 million dollars on its Thursday preview night alone, and $136.2 million over the opening weekend. This accomplishment marks the new movie as the highest debut box office numbers of any animation film in history! Produced hand-in-hand with animation studio Pixar, “Finding Dory”’s gigantic numbers come after Disney’s “Zootopia” film similarly dethroned Frozen for the top opening weekend, earning $75 million on its opening weekend. “Finding Dory” continues the story from “Finding Nemo”, following the adorably goofy fish Dory as she explores the ocean to find her parents and escape a California public aquarium. The film is in theaters now, so make sure to find the time to check out Disney’s newest hit film!

Shanghai Disney Resort opens its doors early

After years of construction since its announcement in 2011, the Shanghai Disney Resort theme park in China is finally open for tourists! Today marks the first day of a six-week trial of operations before the park’s official opening on June 16, allowing select customers, cast members, resort partners, and more to experience the brand-new park for the very first time. The park, which includes six themed areas, hotels, and a shopping district, is the largest Disney resort in Asia, outclassing similar Disney resorts in Hong Kong and Tokyo, Japan. The resort will also feature a distinctly Chinese-themed design overtone, including themes from Shikumen architecture and design elements from the Chinese zodiac. Fans that aren’t lucky enough to get access to this pre-opening trial period can look forward to the June 16th opening date, when the park will be made available to all customers. “The Good Dinosaur” trailer

After releasing a teaser trailer for their upcoming film in June, Disney and Pixar have uploaded the full trailer for “The Good Dinosaur”! The film, which has been in production for over 4 years, will take place on an Earth where the dinosaurs never went extinct, and will follow the adventures of a young Apatosaurus named Arlo and a human boy named Spot. The trailer features both Arlo and Spot, along with a number of other dinosaurs that will be featured throughout the film. “The Good Dinosaur” will release in theaters nationwide on November 25th, making it a great holiday film for the whole family. Beach Bot draws Walt Disney portrait in sand

Science and robotics team ETH Zurich debuted its Beach Bot robot last December, which is capable of transforming any imported artwork or line art design into a large-scale pattern which it then scars into sand using a rear-mounted rake. After making sand art across the world over the past few months, ETH Zurich have collaborated with Disney Research in order to bring Disney’s iconic pioneer, Walt Disney, to life in sand art form! The Beach Bot created its latest work of art at Walt Disney World in Bay Lake, Florida, even mimicking Walt’s signature in the sand below the portrait! Visitors to Disney World can check out this robotic masterpiece for themselves, and can be sure to see more Beach Bot artwork pop up worldwide in the future!

Disneyland Shanghai designs unveiled

In an exciting move for Disney fans all over the world, Disney has officially released our first look at the upcoming Disneyland Shanghai amusement parks! The news was unveiled at a press conference by Disney chief executive Bob Iger, who went on to describe what the park will offer to its visitors. Disney Shanghai will be split into six distinct areas based on Disney films, animations, and media. These include Mickey Avenue as the main entrance to the park, which will lead to the Gardens of Imagination, Fantasyland, Adventure Isle, Trasure Cove, and Tomorrowland.
There will also be unique areas like the Star Wars Launch Bay and Marvel Universe parks, which will feature props, memorabilia, sets, and other events for visitors to enjoy. New events have already been announced for the park as well, including a Mandarin-language stage performance of the “Lion King” musical, as well as exclusive merchandise like Zodiac-themed Disney characters. The park, which is located in Chuansha, Shanghai, will open in Spring 2016, so make plans to check out the newest grandiose Disney resort next year!
