2011 at 02:14 pm by admin | No Comments

It’s Dessert Time!

Oh yummy! Those look delicious, but wait! You must be careful! Those aren’t exactly edible, they’re cute little bakery charms made out of special imported clay. At the workshop you’ll learn how to handcraft delicious charms and to customize it to your liking, whether you like lots of sparkles or tons of frosting, it’s yours to design.

All that sounds pretty exciting, and it is, but the best part about this is that it’s completely free! We’re providing the expertise, tools, and material’s needed to start and finish this sweet workshop.
Interested? Tomodachi is holding this yummy Dessert Time workshop on the 22nd of May at the store in Rosedale Mall by Borders. Here we will have Tomodachi Artists* guide you into ‘baking’ yourself a charm out of special air-dry-clay. We’ll be making fun little desserts like layered cakes with frost, layered rolls, cute little strawberries, sprinkles and so much more! Don’t miss out; come join us for a great time.

We hope to see you there,

Project Nihon Sunday

Project Nihon Sunday*
Sunday, March 27, 2011
2-6pm

Tomodachi is proud to present Minnesota-born, New York-based artist, Meghan Keane. A painter, print-maker, and installation artist, Meghan is founder of Project Nihon/ sustainable art travel, an experimental, community-building art and film project, with sibling, Michael Keane, a filmmaker. Project Nihon is an experimental art and film project about making art in Japan for 37 days, filming the process, and in the end, giving it all away.

Coloring bookMeghan KeaneMeghan KeaneProject NihonProject Nihon

During Project Nihon Sunday, Keane will lead a special printmaking workshop inspired by her experience in Japan. She will teach participants how to create an art print from paper cranes using a special collagraph technique and tracing method.

This workshop is free of cost and all supplies will be provided. All we ask is that you make a donation of your origami at the store. Your crane will then be used by Cranestorm, a project facilitated by Minnesota Brain Injury Association – with whom Tomodachi has partnered – to become part of an installation art piece aimed at generating awareness about brain injury. However, all workshop participants will leave with their print, an artistic reminder of their paper crane making experience with Project Nihon.

Following the event, Tomodachi will screen exclusive footage of the Project Nihon documentary as and show the official movie trailer. Original art by Keane will also be on display and hand-made fine art coloring books will be available for purchase. $10 of every PROJECT NIHON Limited Edition Coloring Book purchase ($25) will go towards Japan Tsunami Relief (Red Cross) and Tomodachi is matching this — so by purchasing ONE Coloring Book you donate an instant $20 to Japan relief efforts.
A truly meaningful way to get Japan-inspired art AND give back.

We hope to see you there,

TOMODACHI / http://tomodachi.us/
