Self-lacing Nike shoes release this holiday

Nike has just announced that its newest line of shoes, the self-lacing HyperAdapt series of footwear, will go on sale this holiday season, on November 28th! The shoes have been in the works for years, with the original prototypes dating back to 2011, and are finally ready to hit retail. The HyperAdapts, which will have to be charged like other electronic devices, will have internal cables and pressure sensors built into the shoe itself, sensing when the shoe is placed on a foot. The shoe will then self-tighten its laces, which can be adjusted using buttons on the shoe for a comfortable fit. The HyperAdapt shoes will be able to function for two weeks on a single charge, and will also feature built-in LED lights that will let users know when the shoe is tightening or when it is low on batteries. While there is no official price tag for these shoes yet, the HyperAdapts will surely be a popular collector’s item this holiday season. Recreate iconic Disney castle in LEGO

Disney and LEGO have come together in a magical way to release a giant recreation of Disney World’s iconic Cinderella Castle in LEGO! The castle will prominently feature the front display of the castle in intricate detail, while turning the set around will reveal a number of playrooms for LEGO mini-figures to have fun in! These rooms will themselves be themed after a number of Disney’s most famous movies and animations, including Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Fantastia, and Brave among others. The giant set will also contain unique Disney-themed mini-figures, providing collectors with the chance to own Mickey Mouse, Minny Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and Tinker Bell! Standing at nearly 30″ high, the 4080-piece LEGO Disney Castle will go on sale on September 1st for $349.

Advanced prosthetics hit retail this year

In the latest development from US robotics industry DARPA and inventor Dean Kamen, one of the world’s most advanced prosthetic limbs will be made available on the market this year! The arm, titled the Luke Arm after the protagonist from the Star Wars franchise, is designed to provide amputees with a limb capable of almost-natural manipulation and control. The Luke Arm is capable of delicate procedures like holding an egg, and at the same time is durable enough to handle lifting heavy objects in day-to-day life. The arm will also be able to be adjusted for any level of amputation, and can even be used underwater! The first wave of the arm is scheduled to be released sometime in 2016, with future releases improving on accuracy, durability, and other user-friendly options. The release of this arm to the market is an exciting step in using technology to help improve the lives of disabled citizens and veterans, and will surely lead to more amazing advances in the field.

Meet Lily, the latest in autonomous drone technology ready to hit shelves around the world! Lily, which began as a hobby project at a UC Berkeley robotics lab in 2013, strives to take homemade photography and cinematography to the next level by offering a completely user-free experience; just throw Lily into the air to activate it, and it will autonomously record your every move! The drone follows its user through the use of a tracking device, which also allows Lily to be programmed to take photos and videos in various modes and tracking positions. Through specially designed optics, Lily is able to take 1080p high definition videos, and can even take 12 megapixel still photos and slow-motion video! Lily is also waterproof, allowing use of the drone in a wide variety of environments and situations. Lily, which is scheduled to release in February 2016, is currently available for pre-order for $499.
