Legoaizer transforms photos into LEGO

Tech company AJU Productions has developed a new tool that can turn any photo you desire into a LEGO construction! Titled “Legoaizer”, the app is capable of analyzing uploaded photos, and creating a LEGO blueprint for users to turn into a real-life build, if they so wish. The program also supports functionality with the LEGO website Bricklink, showing user which exact colors of LEGO brick are needed or should be purchased in order to complete their photo. Legoaizer can also be tailored to suit the user’s needs, ranging from low-cost mode to photo-accurate colors, and more! The program also supports functionality with other construction kits like DUPLO, Ministick, and even standard color beads. Sphero announces new SPRK+ robot

Many have heard and experienced Sphero’s first robotic toy, SPRK, after its initial release last year, such as its use in the hugely popular BB8 remote control toy. Now, Sphero has announced the updated version of the SPRK, titled the SPRK+! The new release of the robot sports a new, scratch-and-water-resistant casing that is capable of taking more punishment than the original, as well as an upgraded Bluetooth connection that allows it to be paired with multiple devices at once. With the new SPRK+, Sphero hopes that the new robot will be useful in helping teach children about coding by allowing them to issue drag-and-drop commands to the robot, as well just generally be a joy to play and explore with. The applications for the new SPRK+ are wide and varied, leaving it up to the user’s imagination as to what they want their new little robot companion to do! Ever since the unveiling of LEGO Technic’s latest kit of the Porsche 911 this past January, fans worldwide have been clamoring for any info on the kit, excited to put together their own miniature version of the classic high-performance sports car. Wait no longer; LEGO has finally announced that the LEGO Technic Porsche 911 kit is releasing on June 1st! In order to celebrate the occasion, LEGO has uploaded a video to YouTube detailing the many pieces and features of the hyped kit. The kit, which will include official Porsche stickers and a thick booklet detailing the history of the Porsche 911, will feature working doors, accessible rear lid to the car’s engine, complete with working pistons, and even a working glove compartment! Sanrio and Toei have come together for the first time to release collaborative figures of their two most iconic franchises: Hello Kitty and Mazinger Z! The collaboration features a twin release of two brand-new figures in Bandai’s Chogokin die-cast figure line, taking the Chogokin Hello Kitty robot released last year and the Super Robot Chogokin release of Mazinger Z, with a twist; the figures have swapped design elements, making them look like the other!

The Hello Kitty Chogokin features Mazinger-themed color scheme on top of the original release’s features, such as die-cast ratchet joints, rocket punch paws, opening cockpit, and alternate flight and swimming modes ,and even features a miniature Hello Kitty recolored to appear like Mazinger Z’s pilot, Kouji Kabuto. Meanwhile, the Mazinger Z SRC features a Hello Kitty paint job, and even goes so far as to replace the Mazinger’s signature chest plate with Hello Kitty’s bow, along with featuring Hello Kitty’s visage on its Jet Scrander belt attachment. Mazinger will also come with alternate hand-shaking parts, so the two figures can exchange a signature pose!

This year’s San Diego Comic-Con was bigger than ever, with dozens of new announcements on the latest movies, comics, toys, games, and more for fans all over the world! With a wide variety of companies and franchises showing off their new and upcoming products, there has been plenty of awesome news and information for visitors to chew on for months to come.

One of the biggest attractions at the event was the Star Wars panel, which was held in anticipation of the new “The Force Awakens” film’s release this coming December. The panel featured an interview from the famous trio of Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford, whom will reprise their roles as Luke, Leia, and Han in the new film, as well as the slew of new actors and characters. The panel also featured a surprise showing of a Star Wars-themed concert, complete with fireworks display, as well as new information and tidbits about the upcoming film. “The Force Awakens” will be the newest Star Wars film in 10 years, and will release in theaters on December 18th, 2015.



DC and Marvel were also present at the event, showing off new information and trailers for their upcoming superhero movies. Among these reveals was the first full-length trailer for “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”, debuting a number of action scenes between the two titanic superheroes, as well as the first debut of Wonder Woman! Other releases include information on the upcoming Deadpool film, as well as “X-Men: Apocalypse” and other big-name films.

A number of displays and exclusive figures were also available throughout SDCC, and covered wide range of franchises, including Mario Bros, Star Wars, Power Rangers, Dragon Ball Z, Game of Thrones, Dr. Who, Frozen, various Marvel and DC franchises, and much more. Virtual reality was also a large component of a number of SDCC booths thanks to the Oculus Rift, and companies like Mattel, Legendary Pictures, SyFy, and others took advantage of the newest technology to advertise their upcoming releases and products.

Tokyo museum reveals gold & Silver Gundams

Fine jewelery company Ginza Tanaka has collaborated with Bandai to create a line of exclusive limited edition Rx-78-2 Gundam figures made of gold and silver! These figures, which are only available at the newly opened “The Art of Gundam” exhibit in Tokyo, are crafted in solid 24-karat gold and 95% pure silver, and come in two different scales. The Robot Damashii-based Rx-78 stands at 5″ tall, and costs over $160,000 for the gold variant and $5,000 for the silver version.

The other size featured at the museum is based on the Gundam Converge line of super-deformed figures, and stands at 2″ in height. These smaller figures also offer a smaller price point: $30,000 for the gold figure and $2,000 for the silver. Also on display at the event are a number of platinum art cards, featuring art of the Gundam, the Zaku II, and infamous antagonist Char Aznable, priced at $120 each. The exhibit will remain open until Sepember 27th, so fans have plenty of time to save up some cash for these fancy Gundam collectibles!

Toymaker produces 3D-printed fantasy tank

Toymaker Michael Sng has taken the use of 3D-printing in toy creation to a whole new level with his brand-new HMC Boudicca fantasy tank! The vehicle is part of Sng’s Codename Colossus project, which is a series of made-to-order kinetic toys set in an alternate reality Europe. The toy itself stands at over 20″ high, and is comprised of over 400 3D-printed parts, all painted by hand. Featuring multiple motors and LEDs, the toy is capable of walking on its six legs, opening hatches to reveal hidden cannons, rotating its variety of turrets and spotlights, and more! This impressive figure is currently available to order directly from Sng’s Singapore-based workshop for $5,000, and Sng plans to release smaller, more afforable versions of the Boudicca and future releases if the line catches on. The University of Cambridge is looking for a LEGO professor! The British University, founded in 1209 and currently the fourth oldest university in the world, has founded a new LEGO research center thanks in part to the LEGO Foundation, and wishes to look into the role of play in learning, education, and development. The new branch is currently looking for an enthusiastic professor to lead the center and its potential projects, and hopes to work with the iconic building block toy and how it affects the development of learning skills and creativity in children. This will not be Cambridge’s first foray into LEGO, as it was worked with the LEGO Foundation over the past decade on early childhood learning, and has also collaborated with MIT and the Tsinghua University in China.
