Street artist Mademoiselle Maurice has called a swarm of origami birds to her latest large-scale mural! The mural, titled “Lunar Cycles”, is the largest urban mural ever created in Paris, and spans the width of a large building scheduled for demolition. The mural was first created by painting over the entire 460-foot-long side of the building in black paint, which was then decorated with 15,000 colorful origami birds, spread and layered to create a beautiful array of designs and colors. The mural was created in collaboration with Mathgoth Gallery, and the final design was decided upon with input from the local community. The mural will remain open to the public until August 2016, so check out this cool installation while it lasts!

As part of a collaborative event between magazine publication TOILETPAPER, furniture manufacturer Gufram, and design company Seletti, a giant inflatable recreation of the Eiffel Tower has appeared in Paris’ Galeries Lafayette! The giant installation piece, which towers over the main lobby of the gallery, is the main attraction of the exhibition, and includes two giant golden eggs alongside the tower. The gallery also consists of a number of images and installations displayed around the Boulevard Haussman, featuring a number of paintings and unconventional furniture pieces and accessories that were created as part of the collaboration. The gallery is poised to transport viewers into a surreal world of visual and art, as famous icons are juxtaposed into unusual or unfitting scenarios.

Artist paints in perspective at Paris pavilion

Artist Felice Varini’s work has always taken advantage of perspective and the scenery around him to create optical illusions. His work, which often consists of abstract shapes and geometric constructs, only comes into full view from a certain perspective, forming out of a series of seemingly random lines throughout the environment.

ArticleVariniParis2

His most recent exhibit, titled “La Villete En Suites”, embodies his unique style of installation painting within the Paul Delouvrier pavilion in Paris, France, and uses the unique structure of the modern architecture to shape his forms. The exhibit opened its doors on April 15th, and takes advantage of shape, color, and even the ceiling of the building in his works.

While his works are better experienced in person, these photos help show off how his work comes together for the viewer as they move around the exhibit. For those wanting to see his work in person, though, the exhibit remains open until September 13th.
