The Minnesota History Center will be opening its doors to a brand new exhibit this Saturday, May 24th, titled ‘Toys of the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s’! This exhibit, which will remain open until January 4th, 2015, will show off collectible merchandise from these three decades, as well as look at the culture and history surrounding the toys and the influences they have had on modern society.

The show will also focus on the boom of the toy business that occurred in these decades, as the industry grew alongside the spread of cheaper manufacturing technologies and the spread of TV advertising. The show will also feature a play area, where visitors old and new can experience these toys and play with friends. The exhibit strives to make a connection between the toy and the consumer, sharing stories of the toys and their owners from decades past.
