Envision2

We were happy to partner with Public Functionary, Ignite Models and V2 to co-sponsor Envision, the largest, longest running fashion show in Minnesota. Held at beautiful Orchestra Hall in downtown Minneapolis, this glamorous event brought out the most stylish of people, from designers, artists, creatives to fashion fans and buyers. TOMODACHI partnered with our friends at Public Functionary on the VIP Room experience, which included collaborating on a vibrant mt tape photo booth installation. Photographer Alex Butterfield shot guests against the colorful washi backdrop while illustrator Allegra Lockstadt created digital illustrations over the images live on a projector for all to see.

Also in the VIP room, TOMODACHI hosted a table with an mt tape art activity and display, helmed by charming staffer Niki, who chatted with guests and sold plenty of mt tape to the fashionable masses.

On top of that, TOMODACHI donated 300 gift bags for the VIP runway guests, which we embellished at the last minute with fun washi tape designs with the help of our friends at PF.

Thanks to Public Functionary, Ignite Models and V2 for inviting us to participate! Special thanks also goes out to Kate Iverson for all of her enthusiasm for mt and washi tape!

Art exhibit lets visitors control lasers with mind

2015 at 03:27 pm by admin | Comments Off

ArticleLaserShow1

A new kind of interactive art exhibit has opened up in London which lets visitors become the artists with simply the power of their mind! The new exhibit, titled “On Your Wavelength”, was designed by a team of professionals, including artist Marcus Lyall, composes Rob Thomas, and designer Alex Anpilogov, is a part of the recently opened Merge Festival in Bankside, London, and takes advantage of brain waves to paint out a light and sound performance. This is done by equipping the viewer with an electroencephalogram, or EEG, headset that detects electrical activity in the user’s brain. The headset is able to read mood and intensity of thought in the creation of the piece, displaying wildly different colors, sounds, and brightness with just a thought. With practice, users can decide which colors to display on the screen by putting themselves in the right mindset, creating a truly unique light show for every individual. The exhibit will be open for use until October 18th, making it an exciting attraction for both tourists and locals alike!

Television studio ABC is set to bring the Muppets back to TVs across the nation with a new series! The series will feature the return of a number of beloved Muppet characters like Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, and others, but with a twist. The producers of the new series hope to gear the new show towards a more adult audience, who grew up with these beloved puppet characters. The new show will instead focus more on the personal lives of the Muppets, shown off in a comedic documentary-style show similar to fan favorites like “The Office” and “Arrested Development”.

ArticleMuppets2015

Using this opportunity, the directors hope to build upon the individual personalities and relationships of the Muppets not often seen in their previous, children-focused shows and movies. Specifics of the program are still under wraps, but ABC hopes to release more info on this new series later in the year.

3D printed car at 2015 NA Auto Show

2015 at 04:42 pm by admin | Comments Off

Article3DCarJan

Oak Ridge National Laboratory has collaborated with a number of companies in 3D-printed automobile venture, most recently with Local Motors and their 3D-printed car at the International Manufacturing Technology Show last September. Now, designers at ORNL has debuted their newest 3D-printed vehicle at the 2015 North American International Auto Show, located in Detroit. Here, ORNL is showing off their new 3D-printed replica of the vintage 1965 Shelby Cobra sports car, sporting a glossy paint job and a number of unique features. While the car looks like a classic Shelby Cobra on the outside, the vehicle is actually made of over 500 pounds of 3D-printed parts, including shell, frame, grill, and even headrests! The printed material is made of a carbon fiber filament mixture, allowing for a sturdy yet lightweight build. The car itself took only 24 hours to print, a step up from their 44-hour long print at the September IMTS, and is a step towards speeding up the creation and testing of car prototypes from drawing and clay concept models. While the world is still a long way from printing out our own cars from the comfort of our home, ORNL’s Shelby is a proof of concept, facilitating the testing and creation of new vehicles.
