Weta Digital, the New Zealand-based visual effects company known for their work on the Lord of the Rings franchise of films along with movies like King Kong, Godzilla, Iron Man, and more, have recently uploaded a video describing the creative process behind the effects of their latest film, “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies”! The video details the effects behind the movie’s large-scale battle sequences, along with the creation of monsters like the infamous Smaug. It’s amazing to see how many tiny details have been implemented into making the film look as real as possible, and adds another layer of appreciation for fans of the movie franchise. It has been announced that Studio Ghibli’s most recent animated film, “When Marnie Was There” will finally release in English for Ghibli fans overseas! The localization process and translation will be handled that entertainment studio GKids, whom have worked with Ghibli works like “The Tale of Princess Kaguya” in the past. The film, which originally opened in Japan in July 2014, is based on a popular children’s book of the same title by author Joan G. Robinson. The story stars 12-year-old girl Anna, whom is sent away from home to recuperate from her worsening asthma after her parents’ death. There, she finds the mysterious Marsh House, and dreams of it and an elegant blonde-haired girl trapped within. Finding that the blonde-haired girl, Marnie, exists in reality, Anna and Marnie form an unbreakable bond and work together to overcome fear. The English dubbed release of “When Marnie Was There” is currently scheduled to release in North America this spring.

After teasers and screenshots galore in 2015, Marvel has treated fans to the first full trailer for their upcoming 2015 film, “Avengers: Age of Ultron”! Featuring a variety of new footage not seen in the first teaser released in October, the trailer shows off several aspects of the upcoming movie, including the Avengers themselves as they work to save humanity, new shots of heroes Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, and the creation and rebellion of Ultron, the titular villain of the movie. The new Avengers movie is scheduled to release on May 1st, 2015, which will make this summer a big one for Marvel fans alongside the upcoming Ant-Man movie. Check out the new trailer below!

Naruto movie worldwide release dates and details

The popular Naruto manga ended this past November, bringing the 15-year long story to a close. However, more Naruto-based stories are set to be told through the upcoming Naruto: New Era Project, amd will include a number of post-story movies and sidestories. The first of these stories is the movie “The Last: Naruto the Movie”, which was released in Japan on December 6th. To commemorate this release, Medicom produced a limited edition Naruto-themed BE@RBRICK, which released in early December.

Following a successful release of the film in Japanese theaters this past holiday season, the film has finally been announced for release overseas in several countries! The film is scheduled to release in the US on February 20th, and will air in theatres across the nation, including in New York, Boston, Houston, Dalaas, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Franciso, and Seattle. The movie will also be headed to other regions across the world over the next few months, giving fans worldwide the chance to see this anticipated film.

On top of that, news was released concerning the next film in the Naruto: New Era Project, which will start Naruto’s child, Bolt! The film will be titled Bolt: Naruto the Movie, and hints that Bolt will inherit the special abilities of Naruto’s father, Minato Namikaze. The movie will also follow the new generation of ninjas, and is scheduled for an August 2015 release in Japan. Details on this new movie are scarce at the moment, so keep your eyes open for more Naruto news, even after the manga’s end this past year!

Having been in development since 2006, the world was finally treated to our first official look at the upcoming Ant-Man movie at this year’s International Consumer Electronics Show! The movie will star Scott Lang, a master thief who steals a shrinking suit from scientist Hank Pym. Lang uses the suit to transform into size-changing hero Ant-Man, whose suit also gives him the means to communicate with small creatures. The trailer gives a glimpse into some of the story, as well as shows off the Ant-Man suit in full for the very first time! Ant-Man is scheduled to release this upcoming July, so look forward to the latest in Marvel’s repertoire of superhero films!

The iconic Danboard character from the Yotsuba&! manga series is about to get its own stop-motion movie series! Animation studio Dwarf, which is responsible for the popular Domo-kun TV animations, will be helming the project, and will be using the Danboard Revoltech figure to create short movies about the figure in a variety of environments, ranging from the desktop to outside and even underwater! The DVD and Blu-ray releases of these shorts will debut in Japan on March 20th, and include a Mini Revoltech version of the Danboard figure, along with the soundtrack CD and special packaging. Fans of the classic ‘Peanuts’ comic strip were treated earlier this year to a quick teaser of an upcoming film based on the franchise, showing off Charlie Brown and Snoopy in the film’s new animated CG style. With 2014 coming to a close in the coming weeks, and with 2015 marking the 65th anniversary of the franchise, the very first full-length trailer for the Peanuts movie has been unveiled! The trailer shows off Snoopy and Woodstock enjoying the holiday season, and reveals that the movie is scheduled to release on Christmas 2015, just in time to celebrate the classic cartoon’s anniversary. Peanuts was a Sunday comic strip, written and illustrated by Charles Schulz, which ran from 1950 to 2000. The comic strip, following the daily life of Charlie Brown and his friends, set the standard for the classic four-panel gag comic strip in newspapers. Schulz, who was born in Minneapolis and grew up in Saint Paul, Minnesota, based the stories off of his own experiences as a growing child. With nearly 18,000 strips in total, Peanuts has since become one of the most popular comic strips in history, and was translated into 21 languages across 75 countries. Peanuts has since been adapted into several TV specials, and has spawned a huge variety of merchandise and tributes, including pop-art statues, parades, and even entire amusement parks dedicated to the comic. The strip has been described as “the most shining example of the American success story in the comic strip field”, and has won the hearts of readers across the globe.

Hot off the heels of the Toy Story panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, as well as the upcoming holiday TV special, “Toy Story that Time Forgot”, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced earlier today that the animation studio will be bringing the Toy Story cast back to the big screen in “Toy Story 4″! Alongside this momentous announcement, it was also revealed that John Lasseter, the original director and scriptwriter of the very first 1995 Toy Story movie, will be returning to direct the project, alongside Andrew Stanton, Lee Unkrich, and Pete Docter, all of whom worked on the previous three Toy Story films. While details are currently scarce he film will follow the adventure of beloved toys Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and fiends with their new owner, and is scheduled to releases in theaters on June 16, 2017. In the meantime, the “Toy Story that Time Forgot” special will premiere on television sets nationwide on December 2nd, 2014!

Originally leaked as still screenshots from closed-doors media reveals during this month’s New York Comic-Con, the first trailer for Marvel’s upcoming “Avengers 2″ movie has finally been released to the public! The trailer shows off a number of important plot elements for the upcoming movie, including Iron Man’s new Hulkbuster armor, as well as our first look at the origins and powers of the movie’s new villain, Ultron! Created by Tony Stark, otherwise known as Iron Man, as a sentience peacekeeping program, Ultron is shown to go rogue and attempts to enact his own means of achieving peace. The trailer also shows us our first look at two new heroes, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, alongside the beloved heroes from the first Avengers, which include Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, and Black Widow. The newest installment to Marvel’s line of superhero films is scheduled to hit theaters nationwide on May 1, 2015.

Disney announces 2016 animated film

Disney has been making a name for itself as a multimedia film company, ranging from recent projects like the big-screen adaptation of “Big Hero 6″ to recent live-action films like their Marvel films and the upcoming Star Wars sequels. Not ones to forget their original animated film heritage, Disney has recently revealed the first piece of art for their newest upcoming movie, “Moana”! The film studio recently revealed vague plot information and story details for the film, which will follow the 14-year-old Polynesian navigator Moana Waialiki as she journeys across the ocean and through mystic landscapes to complete an ancient quest. The story will be based heavily on folklore and legendary monsters and environments, and is set to incorporate a new style of CG that mimics the look of painted canvas. Earlier today, Disney announced that the film, originally scheduled to release in 2018, is now set to hit theaters on 2016, and released the first piece of promotional artwork for the movie!
