Captain America statue coming to Brooklyn

Classic comic book hero Captain America is celebrating his 75th birthday this year, so Marvel has gone above and beyond in paying tribute to this American icon by commissioning a bronze statue of the hero to be placed in New York City’s Prospect Park in Brooklyn! The statue, which will be initially unveiled at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con before moving to this permanent New York residence, will predominately feature Captain America in a heroic pose, with his iconic shield held aloft. Once completed, the statue will measure 13 feet in height! As of this moment, the only visual fans have to go off of is a design sketch of the statue, though you can look forward to the statue’s unveiling at Comic-Con later this July!

Fantastic Four final trailer revealed

20th Century Fox has uploaded the full trailer for their newest upcoming superhero film, “Fantastic Four”! Originally debuting as a comic book in 1961, the movie will retell the origins of the team, following scientist Reed Richards and his team as they are given extraordinary powers as they try to harness their abilities and save the planet from their nemesis, Doom. With the movie soon to be released on August 7th, this trailer is our best look at the new film before the official opening next month!

Play Arts Kai debuts Spider-Man figure

Square Enix has updated their line of Marvel-based Play Arts Kai figures with the announcement of Play Arts Kai Spider-Man! Originally debuting at concept artwork at New York Comic Con this past October, the figure is finally ready to hit shelves all over the world! The collectible features all of Play Arts Kai’s iconic articulation and attention to detail, as well as sporting a unique redesign akin to other Play Arts Marvel figures previously shown, such as Iron Man and Thor. Sporting a unique armor-styled suit with black details and ridges, the figure itself includes a number of swappable hands to perform all of Spidey’s iconic poses, as well as several different kinds of web effect pieces. He even comes with a unique web-shaped stand along with the standard Play Arts support stand! Currently slated for an August 2015 release, this new Marvel collectible is now open for preorders at around $120 USD, so Spider-Man fans everywhere shouldn’t miss out on the opportunity to get their hands on this awesome web-slinging figure!

Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer

After teasers and screenshots galore in 2015, Marvel has treated fans to the first full trailer for their upcoming 2015 film, “Avengers: Age of Ultron”! Featuring a variety of new footage not seen in the first teaser released in October, the trailer shows off several aspects of the upcoming movie, including the Avengers themselves as they work to save humanity, new shots of heroes Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, and the creation and rebellion of Ultron, the titular villain of the movie. The new Avengers movie is scheduled to release on May 1st, 2015, which will make this summer a big one for Marvel fans alongside the upcoming Ant-Man movie. Check out the new trailer below!

NYCC Play-Arts Kai on display

Comic-Con has always been a place where companies and manufacturers can talk about their latest upcoming figures and merchandise. Square-Enix, video game developer and toy manufacturer, has continued this trend at last week’s New York Comic-Con with the unveiling of several different upcoming figures in their popular Play-Arts Kai line! the figures shown at NYCC covered a wide variety of mediums and franchises, ranging from comic book classics like Batman, Iron-Man, and Spider-Man to franchises like Final Fantasy, Appleseed, Predator, Vocaloid, and more!
Some highlights from their Play-Arts Kai booth include figures of Batman, Catwoman, and Hatsune Miku redesigned by Square-Enix artist Tetsuya Nomura, who is known for his artwork and character designs for the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts franchises, as well as new figures for the popular “Final Fantasy VII” line of figures, including Tifa, Barret, and Red XIII in their appearances from Advent Children. With no release date yet scheduled for most of these figures, keep your eyes open for more Play-Arts Kai news!

Big Hero 6 new trailer released

Disney and Marvel’s newest upcoming animated movie, “Big Hero 6″, has been gearing up for its fall release in theaters with special trailers, online videos, and figure promotion at events like San Diego Comic-Con. Now, with the movie’s release just over a month away, Disney has released a new trailer, showing off some of the action from the movie as well as detailing some important plot points.
The trailer details some back story between the protagonist, Hiro Hamada, along with his squishy robot Baymax. The trailer also shows off some of the action scenes featuring the two characters and their team of crime fighters, the titular Big Hero 6. The movie is scheduled to debut in theaters on November 7th, 2014, and is sure to deliver on tons of comic book styled action and humor.

Marvel reveals posters at SDCC

With the San Diego Comic-Con opening its doors for avid fans on Wednesday night, big news has already started to come out from the convention center about upcoming releases and titles. To kick off the convention in a big way, Marvel has released a number of posters of their upcoming movie releases: Ant-Man and Avengers: Age of Ultron!
Ant-Man, which has been in development since 2006, will begin filming in August, and concept art of the film’s protagonists has been released as an exclusive poster for SDCC! The movie will star Scott Lang, a master thief who steals a shrinking suit from scientist Hank Pym and uses it to transform into size-changing hero Ant-Man, whose suit also gives him the means to communicate with small creatures. The poster showcases both Lang and Pym, as well as the new design for the Ant-Man suit.
On top of that, Marvel released four posters to promote the upcoming Avengers movie, Age of Ultron! Written as a sequel for the popular 2012 Avengers film, Age of Ultron will feature the return of the Avengers team, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye, as well introduce Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch to the team. The team will be fighting against Ultron, an AI programmed by Iron man that has gone rogue and plots to destroy the superhero team. The four new posters Iron Man, Scarlet Witch, Black Widow, and Captain America fighting against an army of Ultron robots, with more posters to come as SDCC move on through the weekend. The posters can even be put together to recreate a giant battle scene!
All of these posters will be available for fans to pick up at Marvel’s booth throughout the duration of SDCC. With the Avengers: Age of Ultron movie releasing on May 1, 2015, and Ant-Man scheduled to release in July 2015, it will be a busy summer for many Marvel fans! And with Comic-Con just starting to get underway, make sure to keep your eyes peeled for more news on your favorite franchises, movies, television shows, figure lines, and more!
