Hasbro exclusives at SDCC 2014

More and more companies have been revealing their exclusive merchandise for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, which takes place between July 24th through the 27th, and now classic toy company Hasbro has unveiled their line-up of figures, replicas, and more! Featuring a number of popular franchises, both classic and new, fans won’t want to pass up these limited edition releases!


Transformers has been one of Hasbro’s biggest names in the past decades, and with the series reaching its 30th anniversary this year alongside the release of the new movie, Age of Extinction, Transformers has had a lot to celebrate. Hasbro helps commemorate the occasion with the release of several SDCC exclusives dedicated to the franchise! First off is the new “Transformers Class of 1984″ Kre-O set, which includes 30 Kre-O miniatures based on the original season of the cartoon! On top of releasing previously unavailable Transformers in this set, like Ultra Magnus, Rumble, and Frenzy, all of the figures feature brand-new decals based on their original cartoon appearances, making this $59.99 set a must-have for fans of the classic franchise.

Another release that pays homage to the original 1984 Transformers cartoon is the exclusive Dinobots Action Figure Collection. This set, which features four Dinobot Transformers from the recent Age of Extinction toy line, brings the Dinobots to life in their original silver, red, and gold color schemes, and even casts them in vac-metal parts akin to their original G1 releases! The box even transforms into a miniature playset based on the Autobot Ark, which served as the home base for the protagonists! With box design by famous Transformers pop-up artist Matthew Reinhart, this set is priced at $159.99.

The final Transformers release is the Transformers 30th Anniversary Tour Edition box set, which brings four Transformers to life in 80s hard-rockin’ decals and accessories! Featuring Optimus Prime, Megatron, Jazz, and Soundwave, all four of these figures feature glam rock accessories, hair, and even instruments that transform into classic Decepticon animals Laserbeak and Ratbat! This boxset is packed in a roadie case, which includes special edition posters, stickers, booklet, and more, all for $184.99!


The Star Wars Black Series of 6″ action figures has been a hit with eager fans over the past couple years, recreating some of the most iconic characters and designs of the movie series in incredible detail and articulation. Hasbro has now taken the next step at this year’s SDCC, and has unveiled the first 6″ scale figure of Jabba the Hutt in a Black Series exclusive release, the Jabba the Hutt’s Throne Room set! This fan-requested character, seen in the 1981 Return of the Jedi film, this figure features the high level of detail and articulation that fans have come to expect from the Black Series, and also comes with an in-scale articulated figure of Salacious Crumb, Jabba’s tiny companion! The set also features exclusive railing and hookah, all packed in a box that was created to resemble Jabba’s throne room. Retailing at $64.99, this will be the first chance for collectors to get their hands on this iconic and nefarious Star Wars villain!

Another popular series getting tribute at this year’s Hasbro Booth is the classic Marvel comic, The Infinity Gauntlet. Fans of the series will be glad to see a wearable, life-size replica of the famed Infinity Gauntlet available at the show, along with four exclusive 3.75″ figures of Thanos, Mistress Death, Nebula, and Starfox! This set, which will sell for $74.99, features unique accessories with each figure, and recreates the infamous gauntlet in roleplay-safe foam. The Thanos Imperative also gets some attention in the form of an exclusive 5-figure pack, recreating some of the most popular characters from the series in the Marvel Legends Infinite series! Priced at $99.99, the set features 6″ figures of Black Bolt, Star Lord, Blastaar, Medusa, and Gladiator. The box is even shaped to resemble the Galactus Engine weapon from the comic!

Other popular franchises available at Hasbro’s booth include My Little Pony, which will see two exclusives at the event based on the Mane-iac Mayhem pony. The first is a recreation of the character in miniature format, featuring elongated hair and glossy purple, gold, and black paint apps. This figure also comes with her companion, Spike the Dragon, and will retail for $49.99 at the event. The other MLP release is a re-imagining of Mane-iac Mayhem in the Equestria Girls line, turning the pony into a mad-haired madam! Featuring an intricate costume and mutli-colored hair, this exclusive is priced at $29.99.


Other Hasbro releases include the new Magic 2015 Planeswalker card game set, packed with the brand-new NERF recreation of Garruk’s Axe for $110.99, along with a new Mighty Mugg figure of Rom the Space Knight! Celebrating the 35th anniversary of the orignal Rom toy released in 1979, this 5.5″ toy is sure to surprise some classic toy collectors, and is priced at $22.99.

Finally, Hasbro has unveiled a new special edition Rockin’ Romance Jem doll for the show! Standing at 12.5″ tall, this new release commemorates the original line released in the 1980s with retro-themed decals, colors, and outfit, and even comes in a sleek mirror-finished outer box! This release will retail for $139.99 at the event, and is sure to delight fans of this classic doll series!

With all these releases and more debuting at SDCC in the coming week, Hasbro has announced that a limited number of all the exclusives revealed will be avilable on their online shop after the event closes, giving fans all over the world the chance to own these cool new releases!


Bandai exclusives at SDCC 2014

SDCC 2014 is right around the corner, and Bandai has shown off an impressive variety of exclusives that will be available throughout the event. Covering a wide variety of lines and franchises, these exclusives are sure to please more than a few fans at the event.


With a big showing of Dragonball merchandise at last year’s SDCC, including the popular Scouter replica, Bandai brings Dragonball back to the forefront with this year’s exclusives. This includes the new Dragonball and Radar set release, which will include super bouncy ball recreations of all 7 Dragonballs, as well as a functioning Dragon Radar that features lights and sounds straight from the anime, all for $44.99! And in order to please fans of the original anime release, Bandai has announced a new S.H. Figuarts release of Vegeta, the Saiyan prince, in his original animation colors! Appearing in these colors for only a couple episodes at the start of the series, this nostalgic Vegeta release retails at $44.99, and features all the accessories of the original figure, including folded arms, alternate hands, scouter-crushing effect piece, interchangeable head and tail pieces, and more!

A number of Gundam model kits will also make appearances at SDCC this year, in exclusive alternate colorways and more! These include the Master Grade 1/100 Full Armor Gundam in exclusive clear colors, along with the Real Grade 1/144 Zeta Gundam Clear ver. and Destiny Gundam in Heine Westernfluss colors. A number of High Grade 1/144 exclusives will also be available at the event, including the Banshee Norn Unicorn Mode Metallic ver., the Build Strike Gundam Full Package Clear ver., and the Astray Gold Frame Amatsu Mina Metallic Clear ver. The SD Sazabi will even be available at the event in exclusive metallic colors!

With the recent Godzilla movie releasing worldwide to eager audiences, along with Godzilla celebrating its 60th anniversary, Bandai has prepared a couple of Godzilla exclusives to celebrate! First up is the new 60th Anniversary Godzilla figure, with exclusive diorama packaging for $60! This 6.5″ vinyl features a new Godzilla design, combining elements from a number of his most famous appearances. The box of the figure even unfolds, unveiling a destroyed city for the King of Monster to reign supreme in! Bandai is also holding an early release of the new line of Candy Toy Godzilla figures, featuring the new 2014 Godzilla long with the 2004 Godzilla and Kiryu for $24.99.


The Power Rangers franchise is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and has a number of exclusive releases at the event in order to commemorate the occasion. First up are the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers limited edition Ranger Key set, meant for use with the Deluxe Legendary Morpher from the recent Power Rangers Super Megaforce series! The box set contains all seven classic MMPR Rangers for $30, including the Pink and Yellow Ranger which are otherwise unavailable outside of this collection. These collectibles will only be available in limited quantities throughout the event, and are sure to please fans of the franchise, both young and old.

Along the release of this exclusive set, Bandai will be releasing a brand-new MMPR S.H. Figuarts at SDCC 2014: The Armored Black Ranger! Featuring the Black Ranger’s design from the first season’s finale, this figure will release exclusively at SDCC 2014 for $44.99, and feature all of the accessories from the original Black Ranger release. On top of that, a brand-new Green Ranger collectible figure from Tokyo Vinyl will release at the event for $25.00, and is designed by vinyl artist Touma.

Finally, the Green Ranger’s Dragon Dagger will see a limited edition release at SDCC as part of the Power Rangers Legacy line! This replica of the Green Ranger’s weapon is unique in that it is cast in full 24 Karat gold plating! The Dagger also retains its sound gimmicks and playability from the normal retail release, and will retail for $150 at the event, making it a must-have for any hardcore Power Rangers fan.

A number of other exclusives and variants from Bandai will also make their appearance at the event. Sentinel’s Danbo figure, representing the popular character from the Yotsuba manga, will be available in three exclusive colors for $41.99 a piece, and features boosters, RPG, and helmet accessories. Sentinel will also release their new Dino Getter 1 figure from the recent Dino Getter Robo spinoff franchise in exclusive Black colors! This exclusive figure, releasing at $144.99, features die-cast parts and can transform into dinosaur mode. Finally, the 1000toys Synthetic Human Test Body figure will be available for the first time on US shores at the event, and will feature a unique colors and weathering for $159.99.

Toynami exclusives at SDCC 2014

San Diego Comic-Con, one of the world’s largest conventions for toys, animation, movies, comics, and more, is getting ready to start up its annual exhibition at the San Diego Convention Center on July 24th, and toy companies from all over the world will be featuring exclusive merchandise only available at the 3-day long event. Toynami, an American-based toy company that has been creating specialty and licensed collectibles since 2000, has revealed three of their own exclusive toys for the event, and each one is worth keeping an eye out for!

The first of Toynami’s releases is one of their most anticipated; the exclusive Glorious Golden Talking Bender figure is back! Originally released as a Toynami SDCC exlcusive back in 2006, the gilded robot has returned to celebrate the final episode of the Futurama cartoon series this past September. Standing at 9″ tall, Bender comes with three sets of swappable face plates, emulating a number of Bender’s iconic faces and emotions, and even features an opening chest cavity. On top of that, Bender features over 12 phrases voiced by John DiMaggio, whom lent his voice to the robot in the cartoon series! This piece, which will retail at $40 at the event, is limited to 1000 pieces.

Next up is a collaboration with Sanrio and videogame company Capcom with the release of the Chun-Li Hello Kitty coin bank! With Hello Kitty celebrating her 40th anniversary this year, Toynami has paid homage to the character with this release, available exclusively at SDCC 2014. Standing at 8″ tall, this vinyl coin bank features the iconic kitten character, dressed as Street Fighter’s iconic character, Chun-Li, and features unique decals and sculpting in order to emulate her intricate costume. This coin bank will be released in a limited quantity of 1000, and will retail for $40 on the show floor.

Finally, Toynami has announced the release of a brand-new exclusive Skeleanimals design for this year’s SDCC: The “Cute-As-Hell” Diego! This limited-edition fan-favorite design will measure in at 10″ tall, and come in a brand new velvet-red design. Limited to 1000 pieces, this exclusive release will retail for $20 at the show.
