Internationally renowned graphic artist KAWS has collaborated with fashion design company Nancy Gonzalez for a line of brand-new themed bags! This new collection of bags features KAWS’s trademark X-eyes as decals on a set of monochromatic-themed tote and crossbody bags. These bags will be released as a set of limited-edition collectibles, and are part of an ongoing series of artist collaborations with Nacny Gonzalez, which includes works from artists like Dr. Lakra, Richard Phillips, Jim Hodges, and more. The bags will be released sometime in 2017 in short supply, so look forward to these brand-new KAWS collectibles!

Animation Show of Shows to hit theaters nationwide

“The Animation Show of Shows” has been an annual event in which animators from all over the world participate in a collection of animated shorts, which is them shown at school and studios across the nation. Now, this year’s edition of “The Animation Show of Shows” will make its way onto the silver screen for the very first time by debuting in theaters! This year’s collection marks the 17th version of “The Animation Show of Shows” since the collection’s debut in 1998, and features 11 animated shorts from artists from Ireland, France, Russia, Switzerland, Australia, Iran, and the United States. This annual gathering of international art, curated Acme Filmworks founder Ron Diamond, has been dedicated to spreading the word on unique, small-scale solo animators and teams, and hopes to inspire and enrich both professionals as well as the everyday spectator seeing animated shorts like these for the very first time. “The Animation Show of Shows” begins its big-screen debut on September 24th, airing for a week at the Arclight Cinema in Hollywood, California. It will then take to the road across October and November, showing off the film in select theaters across the nation. Murakami to host private art collection exhibit in 2016

Contemporary Japanese artist and pop designer Takashi Murakami, known for his colorfully unique style of art and sculpture, will be hosting his own private collection of artwork in an upcoming exhibition at the Yokohama Museum of Art in 2016! Titled “Takashi Murakami’s Superflat Collection”, the collection features a wide variety of works from artist over several eras whom have inspired Murakami and his works to this day. These include works from his modern pop movement artists like Yoshitomo Nara, Anselm Kiefer, Horst Janssen, Frank Benson, and Friedrich Kunath among others, as well as antiquated Asian art and artifacts, European pieces, folk art and crafts, and more. Through this exhibit of Murakami’s little-known personal collection, Murakami hopes to explore what art is, through a variety of aesthetic designs and approaches, and wishes for viewers to question art in a conventional as well as historical context. The exhibit will be hosted starting from January 30, 2016 until April 3rd, with tickets going on sale starting this October, so fans from all over the world can get excited to see what Murakami has collected over the years!

Gary Baseman is coming to women’s apparel this spring! Announced at last fall’s New York Fashion Week, the new line of Coach apparel and accessories will feature a variety of Gary Baseman’s designs and characters, bringing his iconic art style to life in wardrobes across the world. Baseman has collaborated closely with Coach on the creation of these new series of designs, entitled “Spring Girl”, going so far as to set up a studio office directly at Coach headquarters for the release. The “Spring Girl” series tells the tale of a girl and her imaginary creatures, and will be featured on shirts, purses, key chains, phone cases, and more. These fashionable Baseman-themed accessories will be available this spring.
