San-X’s giant Rilakkuma plush returns

Beloved San-X character Rilakkuma is coming to your home in a huge way with the return of its giant plush! This massive piece of Rilakkuma merchandise sizes in at a massive 5′5″ tall, and has returned due to massive public demand after its initial wave sold out! This giant plush will be available only in limited quantities until September 4th from San-X’s official website, and is currently sold for just over $650, making these plushes a real investment for serious Rilakkuma fans. Fear not, though, for San-X also has smaller, 40″ tall plushes available as well for both Rilakkuma and his white-pelted partner Korillakuma. On top of that, a new monkey-themed Rilakkuma plush is also available for $180, in order to celebrate 2016’s Year of the Monkey! All of these items are sure to be awesome gifts for any Rilakkuma fan!

Water-like glass sculpute on display in LA

Installation artist Patrick Shearn has revealed his newest work in Los Angeles in the form of a large-scale glass sculpture! Titled “Liquid Shard”, the art piece was created as a collaboration between Shearn, public art organization Now Art LA, and college AAV School of Los Angeles. The sculpture itself extends over 15,000 square feet, blanketing visitors of the Pershing Square public park with thousands of glass shards, undulating and waving like water. The glass itself is made of a holographic filament, making the piece shine in the light in dozens of different colors. Shearn, inspired by the observation of nature, hopes that the piece will draw the eyes of busy passerby and help them appreciate nature through his work.

Over 1000 dancing robots break world record

Tech company Ever Wing Company, Ltd. has broken the Guinness World Record for most dancing robots in unison with their recent groovy display! The dance, which featured 1040 of the QRC-2 robot, was over a minute long, and featured all robots dancing in unison thanks to a single smartphone controller. While some of the robots were disqualified due to falling over or not dancing properly, 1007 of the dancing robots completed the dance perfectly, earning them the world record! Artist decorates Ottawa with colorful installations

Argentinian artist José Luis Torres has dotted buildings all over Ottawa, Canada with his unique art installations! Titled “Tipping Point”, the art pieces consist of a variety of brightly-colored found objects, ranging from plastic children’s toys, bins, chairs, and even boats! The pieces are designed to seem large and imposing, as these are part of Torres’ movement in bringing to light the clutter and hoarding nature of daily life, while at the same time displaying a bright and colorful summertime-themed collage. As part of our superfun Pusheen Party on August 13th, we invite you to get creative — looks can be anything from cosplay to kawaii to face painting to fashion based on a Pusheen color palette and beyond — anything goes as long as it ties back somehow to our friend Pusheen and makes us smile. ‘Frozen’ musical coming to Disney cruise

Disney has recently announced that a brand-new musical based on the popular “Frozen” franchise will make its debut exclusive on the Disney cruise liner, the Disney Wonder! The musical will feature eight songs in a Broadway-style presentation, and will feature all of fan’s favorite characters, including Elsa, Anna, Hans, and more. Cartoon characters Sven the reindeer and Olaf the snowman will even star in the musical as unique puppets! The show is scheduled to debut in November alongside other classic stage productions, so tourists can look forward to a chilling new experience on Disney Wonder this fall!

LEGO donates Rio replica for Olympics

Just in time for the 2016 Olympics at Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, LEGO has donated a massive recreation of the city in its iconic building blocks to the city! The model consists of over 930,000 brick, and required 50 professional LEGO construction artists to work over a year to complete it in time. The model includes a wide variety of iconic landmarks from the city, cramming it all into a 16ft x 20ft display. On top of that, LEGO also created unique miniature figures of Vinicius and Tom, the 2016 Olympic’s mascots! China deploys world’s first elevated bus

After initially unveiling its plans for the future of public transportation in 2010, China has finally put its plan into action by mobilizing the very first elevated bus! The straddling bus, called the TEB-1, took its inaugural cruise through Qinhuangdao on August 2nd, and showed off the bus’ ability to ease traffic congestion safely. The bus itself straddles over traffic, driving on rails situated on both sides of the road, and can carry up to 300 passengers at once. The bus will continue carrying excited travelers, with plans to expand the service to other cities throughout China. Check out the video below to see the bus’ inaugural launch!
