After years of planning and preparation, artist couple Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s floating bridge art piece has finally been completed and opened to the general public in Italy! The piece, which was one of the couple’s last planned art pieces before Jeanne-Claude’s death in 2009, is titled “Floating Piers”, and contains over 200,000 floating fabric bricks that come together to create a bridge, linking Monte Isola and Sulzano with the island of San Paol on Lake Iseo. The project has been in planning since the 1970s, making this art piece an accomplishment for Christo in memory of his late wife. The exhibit is open and free for all visitors 24/7, barring weather and other restrictions, making this a prime spot for locals and tourists alike to check out this feat in design and art!

In order to help celebrate BMW’s 100th anniversary, BMW second company Rolls-Royce has rolled out a fresh look at their vision of the future in automation with their new vehicle, dubbed the 103EX. The 103EX is a high-concept futuristic proposal for the company’s future in fully autonomous luxury transportation, taking advantage of the latest in technology and design to bring ease of use and style to users. Using Rolls-Royce’s Eleanor virtual assistant and autonomous driver, the interior of the cabin is steering free, allowing a wide space for drivers to relax on sofa-like seats. The vehicle will be emission-free, running off of an electric powertrain, and using 65 individual pieces of aluminum for wheels, rather than standard rubber tires. While the vehicle is not currently scheduled for retail release, it is a shining concept of the future of automation for Rolls-Royce and cars in general. Check out the videos to see specifics on the 103EX!

Nintendo announces Zelda: Breath of the Wild
2016 at 03:57 pm by admin | Comments Off
At this year’s E3, or Electronic Entertainment Expo for short, Nintendo had a huge focus on its highly anticipated upcoming Zelda title, and it did not disappoint. The game, unveiled to be titled “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild”, will be the newest entry into the Legend of Zelda franchise, releasing on the Nintendo WiiU and the mysterious new Nintendo NX. This Zelda title will return the series’ NES-based roots, letting players explore a huge world all on their own, without guidance from the story or the game itself. Players will survive off the land, gathering fruit, food, supplies, and weapons in order to fend for themselves against the dangerous wildlife and giant robots that inhabit the vast open overworld. Nintendo has stressed that the game is very hands-off, allowing players to go wherever they want from the very start of the game. While the game itself won’t release until 2017, Nintendo has provided a very in-depth look into the game’s mechanics, as well as a cool new trailer, seen below. Keep your eyes open for more cool Nintendo news!

Animated characters help teach piano
2016 at 04:22 pm by admin | Comments Off
Researchers at MIT’s Tangible Media Lab have developed an alternative to traditional piano teachers and tutorials with their newly developed interactive musical score, titled “Andante”. This program, which uses a reflective keyboard cover and an automated system for the keys, projects tiny animated characters onto the screen above the keys, who press the keys on the piano as they walk along. These characters are meant to help teach the basics of music composition by walking in certain steps to certain chords and rhythms. By following along and learning the notes through the animated characters’ movements, users are encouraged to test and expand their learning and understanding of music composition, and even add on themselves with a little improvisation! Check out the video below to see Andante in action!
