Contemporary Japanese artist and pop designer Takashi Murakami, known for his colorfully unique style of art and sculpture, will be hosting his own private collection of artwork in an upcoming exhibition at the Yokohama Museum of Art in 2016! Titled “Takashi Murakami’s Superflat Collection”, the collection features a wide variety of works from artist over several eras whom have inspired Murakami and his works to this day. These include works from his modern pop movement artists like Yoshitomo Nara, Anselm Kiefer, Horst Janssen, Frank Benson, and Friedrich Kunath among others, as well as antiquated Asian art and artifacts, European pieces, folk art and crafts, and more. Through this exhibit of Murakami’s little-known personal collection, Murakami hopes to explore what art is, through a variety of aesthetic designs and approaches, and wishes for viewers to question art in a conventional as well as historical context. The exhibit will be hosted starting from January 30, 2016 until April 3rd, with tickets going on sale starting this October, so fans from all over the world can get excited to see what Murakami has collected over the years!
