Origami, the art of paper folding, has been popular with artists for decades, and allows creators to fold and form simple and incredibly complex shapes. In order to celebrate this art form, the Cooper Union will be hosting a brand-new origami exhibit this summer, titled “Surface of Structure: Folded Forms”! The exhibit will be hosting over 80 artists from five continents across the world, such as Robert Harbin, Tran Trung Hieu, Akira Yoshizawa, Evan Zodl, and more, and will include up-and-coming artists in the medium as well as seasoned masters.

The collection will feature a wide variety of origami shapes, ranging from classic origami animals to intricate, abstract art based on the paper folding technique. The show will be open at 41 Cooper Square in New York City from June 19th to July 4th, which is where the first origami exhibit, “Plane Geometry and Fancy Figures”, was hosted in 1959, making this exhibit a must-see if you’re in the area!
