About Killjoy
Stunningly complex and arresting, the high gloss 20” Killjoy Dunny by South African artist Kronk invokes spring’s delight at first blush, with its soft white, pink and blue floral design. But look closer and you’ll discover a far more dark and sinister vibe; the true Killjoy is no celebration of spring’s joyful rebirth. Instead, it’s the hollow stare of the round white eyes, the flowered frowns, the fresh wound in the back, and a heart gripped tight in the throes of angst. Maybe he’s telling us spring isn’t all it’s Kronked up to be. Beautifully complex, stunningly powerful, Killjoy just tells it like it is.
About the Artist
Kronk, a designer/illustrator based in Capetown, South Africa, refers to himself simply as “a human being.” He actually works for a living, getting paid to doodle cool stuff for big companies like soft drink giants, cell phone companies, cable TV and even his dad. He drinks lots of coffee and loves biltong, a cured meat delicacy of South
African origins. Every now and then he stumbles upon ideas that are conceptually relevant to the microcosms of other humans that exist in the current social environment. He rarely sleeps, but on those occasions when he does, he dreams about the stuff he wants to make. Kronk operates in a perpetual cycle of creativity; it’s a bit vicious, but it works for him. And you.

2011 Munny Design Contest
It’s finally here! The new 2011 Munny Design Contest at TOMODACHI. So get involved, get hyped, and get ready to not only see some awesome designs, but unleash the power of your own inner creativity.
If you haven’t made a Munny before, no worries, it’s fun and easy to learn. Be sure to check out our page on Munny to learn more about this unique vinyl canvas. This is going to be an open-themed contest, so put on your thinking caps! Make sure you stop by TOMODACHI and pick up a 4” and/or 8” Munny and get started on your masterpiece!
Now here’s the best part – PRIZES! We will be giving out gift cards and goodies. On top of that, each winner will have their Munny displayed in TOMODACHI’s first art show; I LOVE VINYL! How awesome is that?!

2011 Munny Contest Rules*
THEME
Open theme (this means you can make anything!) We only ask that you make your Munny appropriate for all ages. All Munny’s must created after March 1st, 2011. Both 4″ and 8″ munny would work! You can enter up to three designs, so please feel free to submit multiple entries!
ENTRY PROCESS
Very simple. Just follow the steps below and everything will be fine.
Step1: Pick up Munny(s) at TOMODACHI or anywhere. Retail price is $9.95 plus tax for the 4” Munny and $24.95 for the 8” Munny.
Get your parent’s permission if you’re under 13.
Step 2: Design and decorate your Munny(s) and fill out the included name tag. Be creative!
Name tag should be filled out as following:
Front: Name your Munny (be creative!) By____________ (Your first and last name)
Back: Your contact info. (phone and e mail)
Step 3: Submit your Munny(s) with nametag(s):
Just swing by the store and tell a TOMODACHI employee that you are submitting an entry for the contest! Or you can ship it to our Rosedale store. We’ll keep it safely on display for you while the contest is going on. The deadline to submit your Munny(s) is Aug 21st, 2011 by 6pm.
Announcement
We will announce the winners of the 2011 Munny Contest on August 28th, 2011. Winners will be contacted via email and posted to Tomodachi’s website.
Judges: TOMODACHI Artists and TOMODACHI friends’ Vote.
PRIZES
The entries will be split up into two age group categories; 16 years and under and 17 and older. We will have full prize support for both age groups, so don’t worry about missing out on the good stuff! The Prizes are as follows for both categories:
16-
Grand prize: $100 gift card +Spot in Art show
2nd prize: $50 gift card + spot in art show
3rd prize: $25 gift card + spot in art show
17+
Grand prize: $200 gift card + Spot in Art Show
2nd Prize: $100 gift card + Spot in Art Show
3rd Prize: $50 gift card + Spot in Art Show
Best in categories
Winning entries in each category will receive a 4″ MUNNY!

Dunny 2011 is almost here! Featuring designs from 15 amazing artists, this set is definitely one you don’t want to miss. There are 18 super awesome Dunnys including zombies, slugs, robots, and even a gumball machine! The world’s greatest vinyl canvas just got crazier for this all-new 2011 series.
